Tiger Eye

Update: During June 2005 we made a
stunning new discovery of tiger eye. With two of my friends,
we unearthed the largest pieces of this amazing gemstone that have ever
been seen. Many claims about new finds have been made in recent times but
nothing comes close to matching the size & quality of this new
discovery.
Tiger eye
is one of the most desirable gemstones that is found in Western
Australia. It
occurs in the rugged Hamersley Ranges of the Pilbara region.
This is an area that is extremely rich in iron ore, with many
huge mines currently operating.
Tiger eye
is found in a few limited areas in these iron
formations. The best known area is near Mount
Brockman. A ridge of hills about 6 miles long, has produced
good quality material from a number of small deposits.
Two of these
deposits have produced the famed "Marramamba" tiger eye.
This is a particularly rare variety that has stunningly chatoyant
reds & blues with black mirror-like magnetite .
